Tokyo Underworld ( (しん) 東京 (とうきょう) , Shin Tōkyō?) is the place where people who have committed crimes in life come once they die. It's considered an urban legend because no one knows if it really exists. Tokyo Underworld is the main location of the Tokyo Underworld series.

Overview[]

The Tokyo underworld could be considered hell for those people who committed crimes in their lives, whether they were aware of the crimes or not. People they have killed have a direct pass to Tokyo Underworld when they die. People who come to Tokyo Underworld are know as Guilty ( (つみ) (びと) , Tsumibito?) or Felon ( (じゅう) (ざい) (じん) , Jūzaijin?). It's led by the President Tower.

Description[]

Tokyo Underworld is a place similar to real-life Tokyo having the same sites as its counterpart including Tokyo Tower. In Tokyo Underworld, tourist places are considered prisons, having their own rulers to monitor the prisons.

Arrival and Escape[]

Arrival[]

The Tokyo Underworld is only accessible when a person dies or is killed. If the murdered person wishes, they can take their murderer with them to Tokyo Underworld. Upon arrival it can be considered guilty and therefore a target for the executioners or it can be recruited by the President Tower if their skills are extraordinary.

Escape[]

In Tokyo Underworld there is a way to escape, this way is by going to Tokyo Tower and touching it. This is known as the Spider's Thread ( () () (いと) , Kumo no Ito?), which is the presidential pardon granted by the President Tower, this pardon allows it to escape from the Tokyo Underworld and travel to the real Tokyo.

Executioners[]

The executioners are in charge of monitoring and protecting Tokyo Underworld. Their task is to protect their prisons, kill guilties and prevent them from reaching Tokyo Tower.

Economy[]

In Tokyo Underworld, the Obols ( (えん) , En?) currency is used by the executioners when they make their transactions.[1]

Guiltograms[]

The Guiltograms ( (ギル) (グラム) , Giruguramu?) are the unit used to calculate the weight of a guilty. This unit is used in auctions to calculate the grade to which the guilty will belong.

Guilty Classification[]

In Tokyo Underworld, guilty are divided into seven ranks based on the weight of their crimes. These ranks are called grades.

  1. Grade A ( (とう) , Ittō?)
  2. Grade B ( (とう) , Nitō?)
  3. Grade C ( (とう) , Santō?)
  4. Grade D ( (とう) , Shitō?)
  5. Grade E ( (とう) , Gotō?)
  6. Grade F ( (とう) , Rokutō?)
  7. Grade G ( (とう) , Shichitō?)

In addition to the aforementioned grades, there is a grade above Grade A called S-Grade or Special Grade ( (とく) (とう) , Tokutō?).

  • Tokyo Tower (東京 (とうきょう) タワー, Tōkyō Tawā?) is the main localization of the President Tower. It's also the place where the presidential pardon, the Spider's Thread is granted. According to Enra, Tokyo Tower is a bridge that connects Tokyo underworld with the real world.[3]
  • Presidential Prefecture ( (だい) (とう) (りょう) () , Daitōryō-fu?) is the president tower's personal prefecture, it's used as a meeting center for executioners as well as president tower's personal meetings.
    • President's Castle ( (だい) (とう) (りょう) のお (じょう) , Daitōryō no Ojō?) is the president's main residence, it's used as a court for the president tower's politics and personal affairs.
    • Court Colosseum ( (きゅう) (てい) (とう) () () , Kyūtei Tōgiba?) is a coliseum created by the executioners for their entertainment in the presidential prefecture, it is a place where the executioners make their half-executioners fight until one of them dies. It's located in Tokyo Dome.

Prisons[]

The Tokyo Underworld consists of several places classified as prisons, each prison has its own ruler. Prisons are named according to their position but may be known by another name depending on the location.

Daiba Prison (台場 (けい) (じょう) , Daiba Keijō?) also known as the Suspension Bridge from Hell (吊り橋地獄, Tsuribashi Jigoku?) is the prison located in Daiba more specifically on Rainbow Bridge. It's guarded by Benkei. It's a suspended bridge where the guilties have to flee from the executioner and escape from the bridge that is broken in half.

Toyosu Prison (豐州 (けい) (じょう) , Toyosu Keijō?) also known as the Guilty Market (罪人市場, Tsumibito Ichiba?) is the prison located in Toyosu more specifically Toyosu Market. It's guarded by Columbus. It's an auction house where the guilties captured by the crew are taken away. This is where the guilty are weighed and given a price and then auctioned off by all the executioners from the different prisons.

Ginza Prison (銀座 (けい) (じょう) , Ginza Keijō?) also known as the Guilty Department Store (罪人百貨店, Tsumibito Hyakkaten?) is the prison located in Ginza more specifically on Ginza Department Store. It's guarded by Antoinette. It's a department store where it can find products made from dead guilties. In this prison, the guilties brought in must survive a collecting game where the executioner will try to make a necklace with the body parts of the guilties in the prison.

Asakusa Prison (浅草 (けい) (じょう) , Asakusa Keijō?) also known as the Honnoji Temple Hell (本能寺地獄, Hon'noji Jigoku?) is the prison located in Asakusa more specifically on Honnoji Temple. It's guarded by Nobunaga. It's a temple which is used as a prison. Unlike other prisons, Honnoji Temple is used as a place of refuge rather than a prison where the guilty are protected by the prison's executioner.

Ikebukuro Prison (池袋 (けい) (じょう) , Ikebukuro Keijō?). It's guarded by Cao Cao. Not much is known about this prison but it is known that it has three wards, one of them guarded by Joan and called the Saint's hell.

Okachimachi Prison (御徒町 (けい) (じょう) , Okachimachi Keijō?) is the prison located in Okachimachi more specifically on Ameya Alley. It's guarded by Unnamed Executioner. The prison is set like a street market.

Hamamatsu Prison (浜松 (けい) (じょう) , Hamamatsu Keijō?) is the prison located in Hamamatsu. It's guarded by Nero who took it from an unknown executioner. The prison looks like a country house.

Kasumigaseki Prison (霞ヶ関 (けい) (じょう) , Kasumigaseki Keijō?) is the prison located in Kasumigaseki. It's known for being a prison that houses the biggest felons of Tokyo Underworld. It's guarded by Unnamed Executioner. The appearance of this prison is unknown.
