Executioners (
Overview[]
They are scattered in various places in Tokyo Underworld, each of them guarding a specific place or prison.[1]
Their mission is to exterminate all the guilty that come to Tokyo Underworld and prevent them from reaching the Tokyo tower.
They receive orders from the president tower.
Appearance[]
All the executioners wear a mask with the logo of the President Tower to hide their face.
Although they all wear the mask, each of them wears a different outfit referring to the character they are named after, Antoinette or Nobunaga being an example.
History[]
The executioners used to be people who came to Tokyo Underworld because of their crimes.
When they arrive at Tokyo Underworld, they are greeted by the President Tower who gives them a weapon and a mask as their uniforms.
Hierarchy[]
The executioners have a hierarchy which is established based on their actions and the number of guilty criminals they are able to exterminate.
These ranks are:
- President Tower (タワー大統領, Tawā Daitōryō)
- High Ranking (上級, Jōkyū)
- Mid-Ranking (中級, Chūkyū)
- Low Ranking (下級, Kakyū) are executioners who usually go in groups with similar appearance and an established uniform, they're usually servants of higher-ranking executioners.
- Half-Executioners (半刑吏, Han Keiri) are criminals who have been turned into executioners, they are used as fighters to force them to fight each other, despite not being true executioners, they are included in the hierarchy below low-ranking executioners.[3] Unlike conventional executioners, half-executioners are assigned a number to distinguish them.
Members[]
Below is a list of known executioners so far:
High Rank
Mid Rank
Low Rank
Half-Executioners
Recruitment[]
Executioners are apparently designated as such upon arriving in Tokyo Underworld, as the President Tower obtains a summary of the executioner's life before their death.
When a new executioner arrives at the place, the President Tower assigns their a new name and their uniform representing the given name.
Abilities[]
Despite having different abilities, most executioners share skills:
Guilty Smell[]
Executioners can sense a culprit's crimes through scent. This odor changes depending on the severity and nature of the crime.[4] According to Nero, his blood is capable of softening the scent of the guilty's sins.[5]
Creation of Half-Executioners[]
Executioners have the ability to create half-executioners which are criminals transformed into executioners to turn them into slaves or fighters. According to Nero, this skill is highly regarded among executioners.[6]
Characteristics[]
Death Scenario[]
The predestined death of an executioner is the only way in which they can be defeated. This scenario takes place when an executioner dies in the same way that their historical counterpart died. An example of this is Benkei who was killed by shooting two arrows at the same time just like his historical counterpart. All mid-range and above executioners can be killed exclusively by their death scenario with the exception of Lucifer's ability.[7]
Trivia[]
- Most of the executioners are based on historical figures from either Japan or the world.
- According to the President Tower, if an executioner wears their mask for a long time they will become a true executioner, so far the only exception is Enra.[8]
- According to Nero, to be an executioner it is necessary to have a predestined death.[9]
