Benkei (べんけい, Benkei?) is one of the executioners in Tokyo Underworld series.
He's an executioner in Tokyo Underworld, in charge of the Daiba prison guarding the rainbow bridge.
Appearance[]
Benkei is a tall executioner with great musculature.
Benkei wears a full body hood and wears a mask with the president tower's logo on it.
He has corpse parts on his back, be it bones, legs, arms, etc.
He usually wears gloves to avoid staining himself with blood.
Personality[]
Former Bearer[]
A clear personality of Benkei has not been shown, other than the fact that he wants to die.[1]
Benkei is a bloodthirsty killing the guilty in cold blood and without mercy.
Masatoshi Yabuuchi[]
Since Masatoshi took the title of Benkei, he has been a calmer person although he has obeyed orders from the president of the tower. Some time later, he would meet again with his students to atone for his sins by showing that the bloodthirsty Benkei no longer exists since he is in charge of protecting them, which is why he is considered an ally of the Guilty Army.
History[]
Benkei is the caretaker of the Daiba prison so his mission is to kill anyone who wants to escape from the prison. One day, the former Benkei confronts the students of Daiba High School who discover a way to kill him and escape from prison.
After his death, Yabuuchi would take his place as the new Benkei.[2] Currently, he is allied with Nero, his subordinates and guilty army.

- Benkei is based on Saitō Musashibō Benkei aka Benkei who is a character in Japanese folklore known for having a moral dilemma on a bridge.
